Tofu Lettuce Wraps

Lettuce wraps are an Asian preparation of chicken stuffed in lettuce leaves with a crunchy,sweet and spicy taste.These are served in the restaurant P.F Changs in the US.This recipe is a vegetarian version to the lettuce wraps served at P.F.Changs.
Preparation time:20 minutes
Serves: 6-8 lettuce wraps


Ingredients:
1 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
1 pound extra firm tofu diced(you can also use premade tofu nuggets)
1 large onion, chopped
2 tablespoons garlic, minced or pressed
1 tablespoon teriyaki sauce
1 teaspoon sriracha
2 teaspoons minced ginger
8 ounce diced water chestnuts
1 bunch green onions sliced
salt to taste
Iceberg lettuce leaves rinsed
Fried noodles (optional)
1 tablespoon roasted peanuts

Procedure:
1.In a medium skillet on medium heat, warm 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil. Add the onions, water chestnuts, garlic, ginger, green onions.
2.Add the diced tofu let cook for 1 minute.

3.Add the Teriyaki sauce and sriracha and stir until completely coated. Adjust salt.Place fried noodles on the lettuce and add the tofu mixture and few peanuts on top and serve.(I did not use the noodles/peanuts)

Tips:

The same preparation can be made with chicken,ground turkey or ground beef,see recipe for chicken here.
