Coconut Chutney-Kobbari Pachadi

A spicy Indian Chutney prepared with coconut and spices used as an accompaniment for dosas(crepes) or Idli and other Indian Breakfast Items.
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Serves :4 persons

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup of freshly grated coconut
1/4 cup peanuts
1/4 cup putnalu(bhuna chana/roasted chana dal)
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon urad dal
1 teaspoon chana dal
4 dry red chilli
1/2-1 teaspoon grated ginger(adjust per spice you can handle)
6 green chillis
1 teaspoon tamarind paste
3 teaspoons oil/ghee
salt to taste
1 spring curry leaves

Procedure:

1. Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a pan and roast the peanut,green chili,2 red chili,putnalu until lightly brown.
2.Roast the grated coconut in the same pan for 2 minutes.Roasting the coconut will release all the oils from it and add flavor to your dish.
3.Transfer the above roasted ingredients to a blender, add water,ginger, salt, tamarind paste and grind to a smooth paste and transfer to a bowl.
4.In a different pan add the remaining oil and add the urad dal and chana dal and let brown lightly. Add cumin and mustard, curry leaves and remaining red chili and let splutter. Transfer these to the previously ground paste of coconut and serve.

Tips:
Serve with hot idlis, dosa, pesarattu, attu, utappam etc.
