Mokkajonna vada (Corn Fritters/Bhutte ke vade)

In India during the rainy season we get an abundance of corn and my mom always used to make these in the evenings the savory version and sweet version. This recipe is the savory corn fritters.
Preparation time: 30 minutes

Serving: Makes about 25 fritters

Ingredients:
5 Medium size corns (3 cups of Fresh corn kernels)
1 inch ginger
6 to 8 green chillies
2 tablespoon gram flour
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder(optional)
2 tablespoon rice flour
salt as per taste
Oil for deep fry

Procedure:
1.Grind the ginger and green chilies.

2.Add the corn and salt to it and whip it a couple of times to make a coarse batter.Take the batter into a bowl and add the flours and red chili powder(if you like it spicy). Do not add water.

3.Heat oil in a pan for deep fry. Take a spoon and scoop batter by the spoon and drop in oil one by one and fry until golden brown. Remove from oil and drain on a kitchen paper.

Tips:
The flour can be avoided if you are using firm corn kernels that are available in India, the sweet corn we get in the US is very soft and has abundant water so it will be necessary to add flour to make the batter firm.
Serve hot with tomato sauce or hot sauce.
