This is my moms recipe for cilantro dal.The freshness of the cilantro is so vibrant in this dish,you will want to have more!

Ingredients:
Cilantro-2 bunches(separate leaves and chop)
Tomatoes-2 medium chopped
Onions -1/2 medium chopped
Toor dal(kandi pappu)-3/4 cup
Oil-2 teaspoon
Green chilies 6-8 sliced in half
Mustard seeds-1/2 teaspoon
Cumin seeds-1/2 teaspoon
Garlic-3 cloves finely chopped
Curry leaves-1 stem
Asafoetida-pinch
Turmeric-pinch
Tamarind paste-1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Procedure:
1.In a pressure cooker heat some oil and on medium flame add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Let the mustard seeds splutter.
2.Add the curry leaves and let it splutter.
3.Add garlic and green chilies and saute.
4.Add onions, salt and turmeric and saute for a minute.
5.Add the tomatoes and Saute for a minute.
6.Add the toor dal and mix, add 3 cups of water,asafoetida and close the lid allowing 3 whistles(depends on how soon you pressure cooker cooks dal) and switch off the stove.
7.After the steam is gone remove the cooker lid and add cilantro and let boil for 4-5 minutes until the raw taste of cilantro is gone .
Tips:
Do not overcook the cilantro, it will give you a bitter taste.
