Peanut powder or Verusenaga Pappu Putnala Podi is a dish native to South India. A combination of roasted peanuts and roasted spices are ground to a powder and is used in breakfast dishes like Idli , Dosa or eaten with rice and ghee or you can also add this podi to vegetable stir fries like beans,bell peppers,cabbage etc in the end.
This is a recipe from my Mother in Law.She loves spicy food and can never do without Indian pickles and podis.She sends this podi to us whenever anyone comes from India.Although we dont eat it a lot with breakfast items, I love to add this to vegetable curries.
Preparation time:15 minutes
1 cup Peanuts
1 cup Bengal Gram / Dalia
1/2 cup Powdered Dry Coconut
3 garlic cloves
10 Red Chillis Adjust to taste
Salt to taste
1.Dry roast the ingredients separately to a medium brown color and allow them to cool.
2.Skin the peanuts.
3.In a blender add the roasted peanuts, dalia, salt, garlic and red chillis and coconut and grind into a powder.
This can be served with rice, idli, utappam and dosa
You can also add this podi to vegetable stir fries like beans,bell peppers,cabbage etc in the end.
