Pulla Majjiga

Andhra Pulla  Majjiga is a spiced yogurt tamarind stew with some tempering. This is a light and easy to digest stew that can be had with rice.
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Servings:6


Ingredients
Yogurt(Dahi/Perugu) 1 cup
Water 3 cups
Green chilies  3 finely chopped
Tamarind  paste 1/4 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves (optional for garnish)
Jaggery 1/2 teaspoon grated
Mustard seeds  1/4 Teaspoon
Cumin seeds 1/4 teaspoon
Chana dal 1 teaspoon
Urad Dal 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves 1 stem
Red chillies 2 broken into two
Oil   1/2 Teaspoon
Procedure:
1.Heat 1 cup of water and dilute the tamarind paste and melt jaggery in it.

2. Blend the yogurt with remaining 2 cups of water and salt and take into a bowl and add onions to it.

3.Heat oil in a pan add the chana dal and urad dal and red chilies and allow to brown.

4. Add chopped green chilies, mustard, cumin and curry leaves and saute.

5.Add the Tamarind water into this mixture and simmer for 3-4 minutes on medium heat.

6.Let it cool and add it to the diluted yogurt .You can check your salt and add more if you like and add coriander leaves. Chill in  the refrigerator.


Tips:
Serve chilled with Rice.
